This zine brings into question the importance of picture frames.

When visiting a gallery we tend to grant a frame the courtesy of a momentary glance before registering it as yet another unimportant gold rectangle. In reality, they hold much importance as to the psychology of how we treat what resides inside its four sides. Visually they differ massively and yet we seem to unfairly paint them all with the same brush.

I decided to visit the Sir John Soane’s Museum in Holborn to conduct my research because although the collection was formed in the 18th century, it actually covers a broad variety of frames. Through this data visualisation, I hope to change perception around a neglected subject.
